Serita Leonard
Serita Leonard

Serita has immersed herself within the performing arts for over ten years, starting with orchestra and marching band (she played clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, and snare drum) and hip hop dance choreography in high school. Later, while pursuing her B.A. in communications and theater arts at Eastern Michigan University, Serita was active within the theater department as an actress. She also participated within the dance department choreographing and performing hip hop and African dance pieces. After graduating, she volunteered her talents within the community, serving as a hip hop and African dance choreographer for local high schools and recreational departments. For the past four years Serita has been a member of the Bichini Bia Congo Dance Theater, studying and performing Congolese dance and drum. She has performed in festival and concerts nationwide as well as locally. When not performing, Serita commits her energy to forming her own dance theater organization. Her mission is to promote higher self-esteem and healthy well being through the use of African and African American performing arts.
